  1. a) Let Kim's age be k, then Kim's sister's age is k/2

    k+[tex]\frac{k}{2}[/tex]=24

    b) k+[tex]\frac{k}{2}[/tex]=24

    1[tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex]k=24

    k=16

    [tex]\frac{k}{2}[/tex]=8

    Kim's age is 16 while her sister's age is 8.

  2. Kim's age would be 24 and her sister would be 12 since her sisters' age is half of hers x would need to be multiplied by 1/2 to get her age.

    x + x(1/2)=36 where x is 24

    24 + 24(1/2) = 36

          24 + 12=36

  3. 2x+x=36
    Kim's Sister age

    2x+x=36 Add "x and 2x"
    3x=36 Divide both sides by 3
    ÷3 ÷3
    x=12
    Kim's sister is 12 years old
    Soo
    Multiply that by two to get Kim's age

    12•2=24 Kim is 24 years old.

  4. 1) sister-x
        kim-2x
    x+2x=36
    3x=36
    x=12
    2x=24
    Kim is 24 years old and her sister is 12 years old.

    3) Tanya-3x
         Tony-4y
    x-2.25=y
    3x=4y
    3x=4x-9
    9=x
    6.75 =y

    Tanya's was 9 $ and Tony's was 6.75 $

  5. let's solve your equation step-by-step.

    4x+2=2x+12

    step 1: subtract 2x from both sides.

    4x+2−2x=2x+12−2x

    2x+2=12

    step 2: subtract 2 from both sides.

    2x+2−2=12−2

    2x=10

    step 3: divide both sides by 2.

    2x

    2

    =

    10

    2

    x=5

    step-by-step explanation:

  6. A)
    Kim's age=k
    Sister's age=s
    k=2s
    k+s=36
    b)
    k=2s
    k+s=36
    k=36-s
    2s=36-s
    3s=36
    s=12
    12*2=24
    Kim is 24 and her sister is 12

    Hope this helps 🙂

  7. Hmm, this is a tricky one. I'll do my best, though.

    Well, we know that __ + __ = 36 and that one of the 2 numbers is double the other. We'll use x to be one number, and we'll use 2x to be double the number (because when you double x, you'll have 2x). And we know that we add them, right?
    x + 2x = 36. Now this is making sense! Just solve it!

    x+2x=36
    3x=36
    x=12 But don't forget, that's only the age of the younger sister. The older sister is double the age of x, or 12. What is 12 doubled? 24.

    The age of the two sisters is 12 & 24.
