    You need to take the 40 x 30 and divide it in half due to the triangle

    First you find the area of the rectangle portion, by multiplying 40 by 100 = 4000cm(2)
    Next find the area of the triangle by multiplying 30 by 40 then dividing in half.
    30*40)/2=600
    Now add the two

    4600cm(2)

    A=lb
    a=100×40=4000cm^2

    a=0.5×lb
    a=0.5×40×30
    a=600cm^2

    a=4000+600
    a=4600cm^2 hope it helps

    Area of rectangle = 40 x 100 = 40,000
    area of triangle = ½ x base x height
    ½ x 30 x 40 = 600

    40000+600=40600
