Patients with this complex and debilitating condition need individualised nursing care tailored to their needs to give optimal symptom control and improve quality of life

Parkinson's and other neurological disorders are diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord, cranial nerves, peripheral nerves, nerve roots, autonomic nervous system, neuromuscular junction, and muscles. A medical assistants' knowledge of the nervous system--its components, structure and function  will enable him/ her to identify the signs, symptoms of neurological disorders that a patient may experience, allowing him/her to respond to current care needs and anticipate for future care needs of the patient.

A medical assistant uses his or her knowledge to patients experiencing neurological disorders like Parkinson disease by assisting the patient in their activities of daily living as well as educating their significant others in regards to their condition in order for them as well to help the patient.

Parkinson’s and other neurological disorder are the neurogenerative disease that involves brain, spine and nerve cells. They are degenerative disease in which nerve cells either die or damaged.

    Further Explanation:

Nerve cells or neuron function is to send and receive nerve impulses traveled between the body and the brain. Parkinson’s and other neurological disorder are the neurogenerative disease that involves brain, spine and nerve cells. They are degenerative disease in which nerve cells either die or damaged.

Parkinson disease is characterized by the dopaminergic nerve cell damage that occurs in the substantia nigra of the basal ganglia which lies in the lower part of both side of the brainstem. The degenerated nerve cells in the basal ganglia cause reduction in the production of dopamine, and the connections between each nerve cell in the basal ganglia also decline. That resulted in the basal ganglia of the brain lost its control over muscle movement that leads to tremor, bradykinesia, hypokinesia, improper posture and walking.

The stimulation in the deep brain is used for the treatment on the patient. In this treatment electrical stimulation impulse is applied on the lower part of the brain it helps in the modulation of the neurological activities and outrun the abnormal figure in the basal ganglia.

Explaining to the patient what is going on in his/her body is both beneficial to you and them. People usually like to know what is going on within themselves, and being able to explain that is very helpful.

Medical assistance is used knowledge of the nervous system to care for a patient with Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders. This is because Parkinson's disease is developed due to damage to the nervous system.

    Further Explanation:

Parkinson's disease is a very common type of Parkinsonism. It is a kind of disorder in which a group of the motor system is affected. It is a slowly developing degenerative disease. It is usually related to many signs and symptoms. Dopamine is a chemical substance that helps in a coordinated and smooth movement. All of these symptoms developed from the failure of dopamine-producing cells that are mainly present in the brain. So, the symptoms are:

    • The slow movement of muscle mainly referred to as bradykinesia.

    • Stiffness of the trunk and limbs

    • Shivering of the jaw, face, and legs.

    • Impaired posture and balance

An individual who is caring for a patient suffering from neurological disorder should know the nervous system. This is because neurological disorders are developed when there is any problem in the nerve cell or hormone present in the nervous system. That’s why an individual should sknow the nervous system.
