    x is the total time in minutes for the free response

    you are given number of questions as 15 - m and time per item as 8 minutes

    to find x multiply the two givens together:

    x = 8 * (15-m) = 8(15-m)

    [tex]40 points students are given 3 minutes to complete each multiple-choice question on a test and 8 min[/tex]

    (d)

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given

    [tex]\angle 3=20^{\circ}[/tex]

    from the figure, we can write

    [tex]\angle 1=\angle 3\quad [\text{vertically opposite angles}][/tex]

    [tex]\angle 3=\angle 7\quad [\text{corresponding angles}]\\\angle 5=\angle 7\quad [\text{vertically opposite angles}][/tex]

    [tex]\angle 1=\angle 16\quad [\text{corresponding angles}][/tex]

    Also,

    [tex]\angle 16=\angle 14\quad [\text{vertically opposite angles}][/tex]

    [tex]\angle 14=\angle 9\quad [\text{corresponding angles}][/tex]

    [tex]\angle 9=\angle 11\quad [\text{vertically opposite angles}][/tex]
