This process is called attrition.attrition is a form of coastal or river erosion, Attrition is an erosional process where rocks and pebbles are carried in the flow of a river.Abrasion occurs when the breaking waves which contain sand and larger pieces erode the shoreline or headland of the shore.When the rocks continue to collide with each other,they erode more and more, getting smaller and smaller until they are only sediment, this is when rocks that the sea is carrying The amount of attrition depends upon the number of factors: particle properties such as its size, shape, surface,  hardness, and cracks. It also have environmental properties such as time, velocity, pressure, shear, and temperature.

    It is a type of transportation that occurs in rivers where larger rocks roll and slide along the riverbed. 

    2. Attrition - rocks carried by the river smash together and break into smaller pieces 

    This is a method of erosion where the rocks that are being carried by the river bash against each other and break, reducing in size as a result.

    This method of erosion occurs when rocks or particles that are already being transported ram into the beds and banks of the river.

    This occurs mostly in carbonate rocks like limestone. They are broken down by the weak acids and dissolved. The solution is then carried away by the river.

    This is a transportation process where the particles are small enough to be lifted from the bottom of the river but is still to heavy to be suspended. As a result it bounces along the riverbed.
