    Step-by-step explanation:

    Hello, do you agree that for any real number a (different from 0)

    [tex]\dfrac{a}{a}=1[/tex]

    ?

    5/5 = 1 for instance.

    So, when you have the same common factor at the numerator and at the denominator you can eliminate it. For instance.

    [tex]\dfrac{10}{4}=\dfrac{5*2}{2*2}=\dfrac{5}{2}\cdot \dfrac{2}{2}=\dfrac{5}{2}[/tex]

    You just need to be careful with 0, as dividing by 0 is not allowed.

    Hope this helps

    Thank you.

    Area of rectangle = x(x+2) = x^2 +2x

    area of triangle = x*2/2 = x

    so the shaded fraction of the rectangle will be x(x+2)/(x+2)=x

    D

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Since D is 18x/9 , you can divide 18 by 9 and you end up with 2x

    Completely factor both the numerators and denominators of all fractions.
    then Cancel or reduce the fractions. Remember that to reduce fractions; you can cancel something in the numerator with something in the denominator, but in order to cancel something in the numerator and denominator the two factors must be EXACTLY the same.

    next Rewrite the remaining factor. Notice that you do NOT need to actually multiply anything in the numerator or denominator.

    They ex out as a 0.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    since it doesn't work so u get a 0 which means it is not counted.

    The fraction of the rectangle that is shaded is equal to the ratio of the area of triangle and the are of rectangle. First, we need to determine the value of x to be able to calculate the respective areas. We do as follows:

    From the triangle,

    tan 45 = 2 / (x/2)
    1 = 4 / x
    x = 4

    L = 4 + 2 = 6
    W = 4

    A(triangle) = hb / 2 = 2(4) / 2 = 4
    A(rectangle) = LW = 6(4) = 24

    Fraction shaded = 4 / 24 = 1/6
