    Explanation:

    The process by which water flows overland into lakes, rivers and streams is known as runoff, it is usually called surface runoff.

    Runoff is a major component of the water cycle. Water that moves on the surface is called runoff. It is mostly water in liquid form. Water that goes into the ground is as a result of percolation. Surface runoff is derived from both ground water and precipitation.
