   x - 2y = -12​ multiplying with 2

   2x -4y = -24 equation 2

   By substraction equation 2 from 1

   4x -4y = 16

   -2x  4y = 24 ( signs will change)

   2x = 40

   x = 40/2

   x = 20

   By putting the value of x in x - 2y = -12

   20 -  2y = -12

   20- 2y = -12

   20+12 =2y

   32=2y

   y=32/2

   y=8

   Putting values of both x and y in x - 2y = -12

   20- 2(8) = -12

   20-32 =-12

   -12=-12

   so LHS= RHS
