The wingspan of the moth is [tex]3\dfrac{1}{2}\ in[/tex] and the the wingspan of the butterfly is [tex]3\dfrac{1}{4}\ in.[/tex]

To find how many times larger is the moth than the butterfly you should divide the wingspan of the moth by the wingspan of the butterfly:

    [tex]\dfrac{3\dfrac{1}{2} }{3\dfrac{1}{4} }=\dfrac{\dfrac{7}{2}}{\dfrac{13}{4}}=\dfrac{7}{2}\cdot \dfrac{4}{13}=\dfrac{7\cdot 4}{2\cdot 13}=\dfrac{14}{13}.[/tex]

the moth is larger [tex]\dfrac{14}{13}=1\dfrac{1}{13}[/tex] times.

the wingspan of drew's butterfly is 8 millimeters smaller than the wingspan of evelyn's butterfly

    Step-by-step explanation:

    drew's monarch butterfly is 94 mm wide  because 10 x 9.4 = 94

evelyn's swallowtail buttefly is 102 mm wide so,

    102 - 94 = 8

therefore, the answer is 8 .

I believe they compare because both butterflies can have a wingspan of 3.5 in. Hope this helps

    [tex]1\dfrac{1}{13}[/tex]

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given : The wingspan of the butterfly : [tex]3\dfrac{1}{4}\text{ inches}=\dfrac{13}{4}\text{ inch}[/tex]

    The length of moth = [tex]3\dfrac{1}{2}\text{ inches}=\dfrac{7}{2}\text{ inches}[/tex]

To find the number of times larger is the moth than the butterfly, we divide the length of moth by the wingspan of the butterfly as :_

    [tex]\dfrac{7}{2}\div\dfrac{13}{4}\\\\=\dfrac{7}{2}\times\dfrac{4}{13}=\dfrac{14}{13}=1\dfrac{1}{13}[/tex]

Hence, the moth is [tex]1\dfrac{1}{13}[/tex] times larger than the butterfly.
